Kathi Apostolidis (@kgapo) is a Voluntary Sector Consultant and a Health Commentator. She is a two-time breast cancer survivor and a believer in the power of the internet and social media, as education and connection tools in healthcare. Kathi is interested in the ethical aspects of breast cancer, health and healthcare, and she speaks, writes and blogs at http://epatientgr.wordpress.com about participatory medicine, patient rights, informed shared decision making, health technology assessment, social media in healthcare, e-health, innovation in healthcare, e-patients and health literacy. Κathi is actively involved with cancer patient organizations in Greece and internationally.

Yossi Bahagon - Clalit - @YBahagon

Dr. Yossi Bahagon founded Clalit Health Services (CHS) e-Health wing. CHS is the largest HMO in Israel and second largest world-wide. The e-Health wing leads next generation, digital-based, patient-centered care services, focusing on deepening patient involvement in managing health through digital interactive tools, personalized to the individual. Dr. Bahagon is an entrepreneur with 10 year of leadership-experience in Bio-Medical Informatics and Health Information Sciences. He also serves as a Family Physician and as a lecturer in the fields of e-Health, Evidence-Based Medicine and Medical Informatics at the Hebrew University Hadassah and the Ben-Gurion Medical Schools.

Beate Bartès - Vivre sans Thyroïde - @BBartes

In 2000, Beate created one of the first French online patient communities, “Vivre sans Thyroide” (“Life without a thyroid gland”), providing understandable information, exchange of experience with other patients, and emotional support via a web forum, www.forum-thyroide.net. In 2007, Beate created the patient association “Vivre Sans Thyroide”, which is member of the international umbrella organizations Thyroid Federation International and Thyroid Cancer Alliance.

Nathalie Beslay - Law Firm owner

As a lawyer since 1996 in France, Nathalie BESLAY has developed a legal expertise in electronic health , advising institutions, pharmaceuticals, service industry, technical operators, insurance companies on the dematerialization of  health data and services. Attorney Beslay established her own law firm dedicated to health in 2003. Her expertise is based on a deep knowledge and experience of regulatory and legal constraints, on the understanding of administrative procedures, of health care professions, their challenge and risks and the understanding of applied technologies.  Nathalie BESLAY is a regular speaker on the subject of eHealth and legal constraints. At Doctors 2.0, she will be prepared to answer questions about regulatory constraints on health care, social media, and web 2.0 tools.

Eugene Borukhovich - Medco International - @HealthEugene

Eugene Borukhovich currently holds the position of VP & CIO of Medco International and is also a mentor at BluePrintHealth in NYC. From January, 2009 through February, 2010, Eugene was a partner in a healthcare startup, HealthWorldWeb, which was sold to Healthgrades in the summer of 2010. Prior to that, he spent time as a Director of Infrastructure at Cybuy LLC, an innovative startup in the iTV commerce. He also co-founded an e-commerce site in the late 90's. Eugene Borukhovich holds a B.S. in Management Information Systems from Rutgers University as well as a Finance degree from Rutgers Executive MBA program.

Alexander Börve - iDoc24 - @iDoc24

Alexander Börve is an orthopaedic surgeon, (spine surgeon) in training at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden and an entrepreneur.  He was born in Norway and has lived in several European countries.  His thesis is on “Patient-centered health systems” and he is a strong believer in patient “empowerment”.  As an entrepreneur, he started iDoc24, in the STING (Stockholm innovation and growth) incubator.  iDoc24- ask the dermatologist anonymously 24/7 is a “premium” health service, which was a finalist in the EU eGovernment award 2009, the winner of Mobile Healthcare University Challenge at the mHealth Summit in London 2010 and was awarded the “Golden Mobile award” 2011 for best mobile health service.  Alexander likes disruption and is now piloting a revolutionary referral service on skin cancer detection in the Västra Götaland health trust. Instead of the patient waiting 3 months, skin cancer is detected within hours and treated within a week at the regional dermatology departments.

Célia Boyer - HON Foundation - @HealthOnTheNet

Célia Boyer is the Executive Director of the Health On the Net Foundation (HON) – a non-profit organization that promotes and guides the deployment of useful and reliable online health information and its appropriate and efficient use. Thanks to her education and her years of experience in the field, Célia is widely recognized as an expert in the quality assessment of medical information on the Internet. She has taken part in multiple projects at both European and international levels. Her latest achievement is acting as a workpackage leader in the European Commission funded project KHRESMOI (http://www.khresmoi.eu/) started in 2010, which aims to develop a multi-lingual, multi-modal search and access system for biomedical information and documents. In addition, she is highly involved in other EU research activities and participates in many international medical conferences and working groups as an expert of her field.

Bart Brandenburg - Tweetspreekuur - @bartbrandenburg

Bart Brandenburg is a Dutch MD who has lived, learned and worked on three continents. He has over 25 years of experience as a clinician and researcher in hospital and primary healthcare. At present, he is CMO at Medicinfo, a healthcare innovation company in Tilburg (www.medicinfo.info) and has specialized in e-health. He is in charge of Medicinfo’s knowledge center that cooperates with national and international academic institutions. Brandenburg participates in the Center for eHealth Research at the University of Twente. He is a member of the Social Media Working Group of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA).  With two colleagues, he is cofounder of @tweetspreekuur, a free primary care service via Twitter. In 2010, this activity won him the Medicine 2.0 Maastricht Award.

Janine Budding - MedicalFacts - @MedicalFacts

Janine Budding is Managing Director of MedicalFacts and a Dutch medical journalist and publisher. Janine has been an active promotor and ambassador for health 2.0 and eHealth. Janine began to promote eHealth in healthcare in the Netherlands in 2005. She is an active member for of the NVEH Dutch Association for eHealth, focusing on business modeling, raising eHealth awareness of HCPs, and Patient Self management and Health 2.0. since 2006.

Yvanie Caillé - Renaloo - @Renalooo

Yvanie Caillé founded Renaloo.com en 2002 - an online community of patients and their relatives devoted to kidney problems, transplants and dialysis. Less than 10 years after its creation, Renaloo is a Patient Association attached to quality of care issues well beyond web communication. Most notably, the Association is working on the notion of Health Democracy (partnerships and relationships in health), with the aim of bettering the care and lives of patients. This desire "to change the world" started in 2009 by assembling doctors, patients and various public health stakeholders through the think tank "Demain la Greffe" (A Transplant Tomorrow). Thanks to their lobbying, the Association has impacted changes in Bioethic Laws, especially with respect to the possibility of giving a kidney to a friend whilst still alive. Yvanie is today working on an ambitious new project: "Les Etats Généraux du Rein" (Estates General of the Kidney). Renaloo is leading this work and Web 2.0 is going to play a major role in making it work...

Catherine Cerisey - Maison du Cancer - @CathCerisey

Catherine Cerisey learned she had breast cancer in the year 2000 and again in 2002 but has been in remission since 2002. She blogs at "après mon cancer du sein" about breast cancer news, charitable initiatives, current research. Catherine works with lamaisonducancer.com and is currently participating in the launch of a new, free magazine for women who are ill. Franck Chauvin - Cancer Institute of La Loire

Franck Chauvin is a Medical Oncologist, a Professor of Public Health at Saint Etienne University and the Lucien Neuwirth Cancer Institute in Saint-Etienne. He is the Scientific Director of a cancer prevention center in the french Rhône-Alpes-Auvergne region (Centre Hygée) and responsible for a research team in the field of cancer prevention (primary, screening and patient education programmes). He is President of the « Evaluation-Strategy-Prospective » commission of the French Public Health council (Haut Conseil de la Santé Publique) and member of the scientific committees of the French Institute for Prevention and Health Education » (INPES), and of the French National Cancer League (ligne nationale contre le cancer).

Michael Chekroun - Carenity - @MichaelChekroun

Michael Chekroun is the founder of Carenity, the first Social Network for patients and ones they are close to, created at the beginning of 2011. After studying Management at Edhec and the London School of Economics, he started his career in strategy consulting in 2000, firstly at Gemini Consulting and then Kea&Partners. In 2005, Michael joined Ernst & Young as a Manager in the corporate finance team. He became Head of Health and Life Sciences where he led projects in France and internationally for the pharmaceutical Industry. Michael published articles on the consolidation of the pharmaceutical sub-contracting market and he ran conferences on the role of the Internet and Social Media within the doctor-patient relationship. In the summer of 2010, Michael left Ernst & Young to devote himself to the creation of Carenity.com.

Larry Chu - Stanford - @LarryChu

Larry Chu is a practicing physician who runs the Anesthesia Informatics and Media (AIM) lab at Stanford University. He is an Associate Professor of Anesthesia on the faculty of the Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Chu organized the Fourth World Congress on Social Media and Web 2.0 in Health, Medicine and Biomedical Research (Medicine 2.0 @ Stanford) in 2011. He is the Executive Director of Stanford Medicine X, a conference that aims to explore how emerging technologies will advance the practice of medicine, improve health, and empower patients to be active participants in their own care. When not organizing conferences, Dr. Chu studies how information technologies can be used to improve medical education and collaborates with researchers in simulation and computer science at Stanford to study how cognitive aids can improve health care outcomes. Dr. Chu also has an NIH-funded clinical research laboratory where he studies opioid analgesic tolerance and physical dependence.

Antoine Crouan - Institut de cancérologie Gustave Roussy

Antoine Crouan is the Executive Director of the Cancer Sciences School. He is a trained physician and has been Director of Communications and Partnerships at the Institut de cancérologie Gustave Roussy. An expert in communication strategy, crises and partnerships in the fields of health and important causes, he has experience in some major institutions such as Médecins Sans Frontières (15 years) and the French Red Cross as Director of Communications and Partnerships. Afterwards he participated as a director in the editorial construction and social networking of the health website doctissimo.fr. He helped develop partnerships in the Sanofi Group as head of sponsorships, publications and internal communications. He has taught post-graduate vocational qualifications in communication at CELSA (Sorbonne), CFPJ (Paris), the Health DU in the world (Pitié-Salpêrtrière Hospital) and Disaster Medicine (Bicêtre, Bordeaux, ENSP/Rennes). He served as administrator for the Foundation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent in Geneva from 1996 to 1999 and was also a board member at Médecins Sans Frontières from 1992 to 1996. His goal: democratising access to understanding health for everyone, optimising the growth of private resources through long-term partnerships with an educational, ethical and rigorous economic approach.

Edouard DAUBIN has a doctorate in Pharmacy and a masters in IT "Web & Mobile Technology". After working as a pharmacist, he became a Digital Media Manager at a large Pharmaceutical Company in France. At the end of 2011 he created digitHealth, a Digital Agency specialised in healthcare.

Pedro Diaz Yuste - Sanitas - @Sanitas

As eHealth Director for Sanitas, Spanish subsidiary of  Bupa group, Pedro is in charge of eHealth strategy and implementation,to help Sanitas customers  manage their own health. Pedro studied  telecom engineering at ETSITM-UPM  and business at IESE, both in Spain. He began his career at Accenture and was subsequently  in charge of digital transformation projects  at both Yell Group and TPI subsidiary of Telefonica Group where he launched Directory Assistance numbers in Spain and Italy. Pedro is passionate about his five children, and of course about digital.

Martin Dubuc - Merck - @DubucMar

Martin Dubuc is the head of Merck&Co. MultiChannel Marketing Global team. He spent the last 12 years in different marketing innovation leadership roles in Pharma in the French market, EMEA region and since 2 years heads up MSD's global & regional MultiChannel Marketing teams – sharing his time between Paris and Merck's headquarters in the US. His team focuses on supporting markets and franchises enabling commercial model transformation through innovative channels and their strategic integration.

Jacques Durand - BlaBlaDoctor

Dr. Jacques Durand has a very unique background - he is a 44-year-old French Physician in South East Asia where he has been working for several companies as Medical Director and as a Health care consultant for the local Hospital Industry. He is also a Social Media Expert and has devoted his recent life to advancing healthcare online. In 2011 he founded a company in Singapore focused on Healthcare Social Media services, HEALTH2i with its early-stage integrated social media platform, blabladoctor.com including reviews and ratings for hospitals around the world. Deloitte International recently appointed him as the industrial expert for Indonesia.  

Jennifer Dyer - EndoGoddess - @EndoGoddess

Jennifer Shine Dyer, MD, MPH, FAAP is a social media enthusiast (@EndoGoddess), a tech entrepreneur in Ohio and a board-certified physician in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology previously at Nationwide Children’s Hospital affiliated with The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus where she earned her MPH in Health Behavior Studies. In April 2011, Dr. Dyer founded a consulting company EndoGoddess, LLC which specializes in health-related media, writing, speaking, and health IT consulting. She has also joined partnership with an Ohio health mobile app developer Duet Health by Eproximiti (http://www.duethealth.com) and has completed several evidence-based apps available for download including EndoGoddess and EndoGoddess Kids app (under development) based on BJ Fogg’s health behaviors theory to improve glucose check.

Robert Fraser - Connecting Nurses - @RDJFraser

Robert Fraser is an author, registered nurse, and consultant. He is currently a commissioner on the Canadian Nurses’ Association’s Expert Commission, advisor for the Connecting Nurses initiative, sits on the Victorian Order of Nurses’ Board of Directors, and works at York University’s School of Nursing. Advertising practitioner with 30 years of experience, the last 13 years in the Healthcare sector. He has been co-President of Publicis Healthcare Spain, heading the Madrid office by managing its change and bringing innovation to lead it to being “the reference of the market on a global scale”. Afterwards, he joined the Madrid office of Global Healthcare as partner and managing director with the responsibility of re-launching it onto the market. In January 2009, Angel set up Ideagoras, the first fully independent Social Media in Healthcare company established in Spain. He was the founder of #hcsmeuES, leading the tweet-chats during its first year.

Pablo has been an entrepreneur and manager in the online industry since the late 90s. He was an early member of NetJuice, one of the largest Internet incubators in Europe; MD at Donde Comprar.com, the first e-commerce directory in Spanish; and later co-founder and VP Strategy at Kelkoo (acquired by Yahoo! in 2004). Before TrialReach, Pablo launched Kayak.com in Europe, and served as European Sales Director at ValueClick (NASDAQ: VCLK). Pablo studied Biology and Business Administration at UAM in Madrid.

Rob Halkes has been a consultant in health care business development for 20 years, and was prior to that a lecturer at TIlburg University. His areas of expertise are strategy and innovation and include specific experience  in medical technology, telemedicine, and social media. Tamás Horváth MD is a Hungarian ENT specialist, ear surgeon and inner ear reseacher, co-founder of the biggestotorhinolaryngology based private practice in Hungary calledENT House Budapest (www.enthouse.hu). Tamás is a Web 2.0 enthusiast who is building the brand of their practice by using social media tools, he is writing a professional ENT blog in Hungarian, and continously looks for the more effective ways to use internet for medical purposes. He is a regular speaker on Hungarian healthcare marketing and communication conferences. He won the special prize of Webicina's "Social Media Story" contest entitling him to a prized speaker spot in Paris in May 2012.

Matt Jameson-Evans - Health unlocked - @HealthUnlocked

Matt Jameson-Evans, co-founder of Health Unlocked with Jorge Armanet,  trained in medicine at King College London, and is an Orthopedic Surgeon. He founded the  UK doctors network RemedyUK, which has mobilized 15,000 doctors to campaigns around healthcare reform since 2007. HealthUnlocked (established 2009) is a support platform that connects patients with healthcare professionals as well as other patients, and providing both with information and tracking tools.

Oxana Kolosova - Ivrach.com

With Russia being the world’s most social media engaged country, Oxana  Kolosova, managing partner at iVrach.com,  social and educational network for Russian-speaking physicians, founded in July 2010, is never short of exciting opportunities regarding information and knowledge sharing for the benefit of Russian-speaking doctors. A  graduate of Moscow Medial Academy, Oxana started her carrier in medical marketing with multinational pharma, before  focusing on market research and medical communications in the agency world.  Originally from Moscow, Russia, Oxana worked for several years in Ukraine and and then at Dendrite Europe in Windsor, the UK. The insight into different medical information environments helped Oxana to notice an opportunity in developing а professional online community for Russian speaking physicians.

Sarah Kucharski - FMD Chat - @AfternoonNapper

Sarah E. Kucharski is an intimal fibromuscular dysplasia patient and co-founder of the social media-based, peer-to-peer support group, FMD Chat, which connects patients around the world. She also is on the ePatient Advisory Board of Stanford University's upcoming Medicine X conference, congress partner of Doctors 2.0 & You. Kucharski's background as a reporter and experiences as a patient have led to her blogging about healthcare and the patient perspective. She is working on a book to help patients be better patients based on her own healthcare story.

Simon Letellier, is an hospital pharmacist working in a general public hospital in Normandy. A Master Degree in medical informatics, he is interested in Hospital IT architecture, usability and online ID. Member of EAHP (European Association of Hospital Pharmacists) IT group, he is involved in IHE (Integrated the Healthcare Enterprise) as secretary of the Pharmacy domain for the better integration of softwares related to medication. He is also working on the online developments of the ADIPh (the French Association for the Development of Internet in Pharmacy) for the whole profession. Stanley is the founder of DXY, the largest physician social network in China. Founded in 2006, DXY has 100+ employees in China. In DXY, he is in charge of public relation, government affair,  investment and media collaboration. Stanley has a Masters in Tumor Immunology. An almost PhD in Bioinformatics, he is interested data mining and statistics, and he leads the research 2.0 Group, focused on improving efficiency in physician's research work flow by utilizing Internet applications. Since 2006, this group has opened 30+ offline seminars in 15 capital cities in China and ~23,000 physicians have joined this activity.

Brian Loew - Inspire - @BrianLoew

Brian Loew created Inspire in 2005 with the goal of accelerating clinical trial recruitment through the use of safe, trusted online social networks, organized by medical condition, for patients and their caregivers. Brian believes that patient contributions to medical progress have been historically underappreciated, and great progress in medical research will result from involving patients and fully valuing their contributions. Previously, Brian was responsible for technology strategy for The Washington Post, where he developed innovative products and acted as a technology liaison between the newspaper and washingtonpost.com. Brian has been an Internet entrepreneur since 1994 when he founded worldweb.net, a content management software company that created and launched over 100 websites for major publishers.

Jacques Lucas - French National Order of Physicians - @JcqsLucas

Jacques Lucas, a practicing cardiologist, is also Vice-president of the French National Order of Physicians, in charge of Health Information and ICT subjects. Under his dynamic watch, the Order has published several white papers on IT and internet-related subjects and is advancing on various fronts.

Dr Andrew Macaulay is a Consultant Psychiatrist and runs a web TV facility concentrating on mental health.  He worked for a major UK broadcaster on a controversial drama documentary series in the early 1980s, since then he has produced numerous educational and patient information videos in the field of mental health.  He has a busy clinical practice both in public and private psychiatry in the UK.  Mental Health Television provides video rich information for patients, families and those with a professional interest in the subject.  If you can call it a business plan it is his ambition to ensure that Mental Health Television is the premier provider of on line training and information in the field of mental health.  He is only too familiar with all the pitfalls and problems having intimately experienced every single one of them.
